The mid-radius face enumeration is correct on a compact aspect. After the reweighting error,

Two-shell dipoles still make negative for

2026-08-27 — q3 the click: mass-opt, not existence
The leftover from q2 was “a minimizer has bounded aspect.” An adversarial probe found no and no mass-stationary -atomic with and aspect , but existence of a global minimizer was still a sketch.
The lift does not need a minimizer. For any finite set of radii, mass-optimisation on the simplex exists. The mass-critical point is stationary for and satisfies at every used atom. The endpoint identities then force if the used aspect is . At that is . If mass-opt drops an endpoint, the used aspect shrinks into the compact class.
So every finitely atomic radial measure has . A compactly supported radial probability is a -limit of finite spherical shells. A finite- measure is a -limit of compact truncations ( is UI for that one measure). Hence on HPS .
The aspect- number is not used: the split only beats once . The stored row is the first certified class that works. stays withdrawn.

2026-09-03 — q13: replace the dump with Gray-code faces
Copied the q12 stack into compute/q13/. The naive mask loop
is Gauss-Jordan per subset and at is a
multi-day dump. A binary-reflected Gray walk updates
in when one bin is added or dropped
(verify_gray.c). On the stored q4 matrix it matches
the old dump (same interior count , same
, same ) at about
masks/s and MB RSS. One thread. The matrix at
target is the live line: predicted printed
if faces certify. Face copositivity is the certificate, not
the SLSQP prediction. Incomplete search is not a bound.
The first Gray run was killed after about 16 minutes when the
worktree directory disappeared (git worktree listed it
prunable). Scanned faces at that point were still copositive
with ; the dump was not complete
and is not a bound. The enumerator now lives under /tmp
with absolute paths and mirrors checkpoints to
GRAY_BACKUP. A worktree wipe is not a certificate.
2026-09-03 — q13 dent
The Gray walk finished. faces, copositive, residual skips, , . Compact , prints as . Cut .
Same HPS §7 chain with (aspect , faces, ):
Certified: certs/lift.json, interval §7 in tighten_leading.py,
stdlib verify_lift.py / verify_rebuild.py, C and Rust on the
algebra, mass-opt scan with no counterexample, stored
Gray faces. stays withdrawn. q1 remainders
unchanged. bounded still open.

2026-09-06–07 — q14: a small rational certificate
Read the published record and q1–q13 notes before selecting a leaf.
Created compute/LEAVES.md and committed an attempted claim of
for before searching.
HPS still lists v1 only; the fetch script and HTML supplied the
Theorem 4.2 and Section 7 inputs. Nam and the later bosonic paper
do not beat the HPS leading coefficient. URLs are in RESEARCH.md.
The earlier PSD-plus-nonnegative probes tried removing all positive off-diagonal entries or clipping negative eigenvalues. Their failure does not exclude another decomposition. q14 instead maximized a strict common margin in a semidefinite program at target . The 37 bins use rational edges close to the geometric aspect-ten grid. A rational global kernel floor avoids algebraic rounding in the matrix reconstruction.
Clarabel returned optimal_inaccurate, with a positive candidate
margin. That status was not used as a certificate. Rounding supplied
two witnesses: a rational symmetric matrix and a separate rational
Gram factor. Python checked positive definiteness by exact Schur
complements and all entrywise residuals. Rust rebuilt the kernel
using a different bin calculation and checked the Gram residuals
with outward integer intervals. Both residuals exceed .
Both checks imply after the reweighting error
and mass-stationary cut at aspect ten.
Each implementation independently checks the HPS coefficients and the published window. The rational Python remainder ceiling is below ; Rust uses the coarser verified HPS constant and still proves the same printed remainder. No earlier face dump, success flag, or numerical minimizer is a premise of the new bound.
Dent:
This beats the notebook leading and the HPS printed leading
. The bounded-excess conjecture remains open. The proof,
certificate, independent verifiers, and rejection controls are in
compute/q14/. The search stopped after this certificate, as requested.
Replay: problems/simon-ionization-excess/compute/q14/run_all.sh.
Exit 0 means compute/q14/CLAIM.md holds. Covering and all share/
folders were left untouched.
2026-09-12 — q15: refine the compact partition
Read AGENTS, PROBLEM, LEAVES, the q14 claim and proof, and the published HPS inputs. Both q14 finite verifiers pass, including the published window and the remainder. HPS still lists v1 only. Added a new leaf before searching: 40 rational bins at aspect ten, target , aiming to reach the existing mass-stationary cut. The attempted inequality is in q15/CLAIM.md. Only one numerical search will run at a time, with one BLAS thread and a memory limit. Stop by 2026-09-12 07:00 UTC; no new heavy job after 06:40 UTC. No usage-limit resets are authorized.
2026-09-12 — q15 cutoff: residue
The initial claim and leaf were committed as 8aafbe3. The
temporary SDP dependency install failed on sandbox DNS; an
escalated retry was requested, and the tool call remained pending
until the user interrupted it at the cutoff. No SDP search ran,
and no q15 witness or verifier was produced. The proposed leading
is unproved. Both q14 verifiers had passed before the stop,
so the certified bound remains for
. Marked the leaf residue and made the unfinished driver
return 2 explicitly. No usage-limit resets were used. The final
commit and unmerged PR are a cutoff wrap, with no further hunting.
